"I think we've always been a bit delusional and at the start we really did feel we were a cool, British-style band, but it was apparently not connecting in that way, and was always seen as something more esoteric and odd. But then in failing to emulate British bands, a style emerged that became what we are". Russell Mael, Sparks

Public Address: VERSION 2
Since the 1950s, musicians have been playing what they call cover versions (the reworking, updating, or re-interpretation) of songs as a tribute to the original performer or group - or indeed a revamp of one of their own particular earlier/previous recordings. Using familiar material is seen as an important method of learning music styles. In Version 2 of Public Address, Thom McKeown has put together yet another varying selection of these, and the programme is 'presented' by his A.I. voice-creation or 'human version' Fontana Cordell.
