John is a streetwise Londoner and he is being hassled by his good friend 'Jock' Lawrence, an associate who hails from Glasgow. Lawrence is in some distress as it would appear his wife has absconded for an illicit liaison with whom Lawrence believes is their local milkman. In some anger and dismay he has called John in the middle of the night and has now turned up in person to seek his English chum's advice and possibly violent intervention to resolve matters.  (16mins 30secs.)

By the mid-’90s, Britpop, with the likes of Oasis, Blur and Pulp was dominant. But right before those (mostly) self-serious bands broke through, there was an outfit called The KLF raising all sorts of hell across pop culture. The brainchild of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, the KLF (“Kopyright Liberation Front”) was full of radical ideas on art, sampling, the media - and the record business. Drummond and Cauty hijacked the scene with outlandish antics involving lasers, house music, a Viking longship and an alleged million-pound bonfire. This is their extraordinary story - and their astonishing music.

A cover version is a new recording or performance of a song by an artist other than the original composer or performer. A lot of bands and soloists record cover songs as album filler, singles, or re-imaginings. It’s of greater interest though when cover versions re-frame the material in unique ways. Over this couple of hours we’ll listen to quite a few of those – and just into the second half of the programme a very special guest will be here in the studio to choose a selection of covers of some of his classic 'King-sized' hit songs!
